Mission Statement

The Pennsylvania Association of Latino Organizations, Inc. (PALO) is a private, nonprofit, non-partisan public benefit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Commonwealth Latinos through economic development, capacity building, education, and the creation of effective bilingual / bicultural community services across Pennsylvania. The statewide collective efforts of PALO, whether technical assistance, advocacy, dissemination of information, or coordination of special projects, exist to support its members and their respective Latino communities.

Vision 2006-2007

The Pennsylvania Association of Latino Organizations, Inc. (PALO) will continue to increase its visibility among potential partners as the key link to Latino community based organizations across Pennsylvania. PALO’s financial foundation and role as an intermediary agency will continue to expand, through an infrastructure to develop relevant advocacy, leadership, information, and resource services.

Purpose of Business

The Pennsylvania Association of Latino Organizations, Inc. (PALO) is a nonprofit membership organization composed of Latino community based human services, economic development organizations, and bilingual/bicultural advocacy groups located throughout the Commonwealth. Our members reach from the shores of Lake Erie to the Lehigh Valley; from the Pennsylvania Dutch country to Philadelphia.

Through its member organizations, PALO implements strategies to meet the needs of the Latino community. Our members, like their mainstream charitable counterparts, face the immense challenge of providing services to under served communities with minimal staff and limited resources; and we know from experience, that adequate response to the problems faced by much of the Latino community in Pennsylvania demands more time and effort than can be provided by any one community based organization.

That is why the regional and statewide collective efforts through PALO— whether technical assistance, advocacy, dissemination of information, or coordination of special projects— are so critical to helping Latinos throughout Pennsylvania move into the economic mainstream.
PALO, through its member organizations, proposes, develops and implements specific projects to raise the standard of living among Latinos and to assist Latino communities to initiate and generate their own solutions to their common economic and community problems.
This will build long-term community capacity to foster the integration of our economic, social and educational objectives. PALO is positioned to ensure proper assessment of the community situations and plan activities that support the empowerment or formation of the locally based organizations carrying out this work.
